The first Mercon was held in Busselton WA in 2016. Eighteen participants from Australia and beyond enjoyed beach swims, meeting the Hamelin Bay stingrays, and a Gala evening. It has since become a 3 day annual ticketed event moving state to state with the 2017 event held once again in Busselton and the 2018 convention hosted in Manly NSW. The 2018 event gathered 52 attendees as well as guest speakers, workshops and a fundraising competition. The 2019 host city was Adelaide, South Australia.
